All images on this page are produced by Sandy Weather using dedicated weather satellite receiving equipment and are copyrighted.

Sandy Weather commenced receiving APT signals from the NOAA polar orbiting satellites on 22/05/08. These satellites orbit at a height of 830 km and take 1 hour and 42 minutes to complete each orbit. The UK receives images from a set of three passes, twice a day, from each satellite. The first pass is over the eastern Mediterranean, the second virtually over the UK, and the third over the eastern Atlantic. One set of passes occurs during the day and the other at night.

Thes images are now being uploaded on a regular basis throughout the day. Accompanying the image will be the information about the satellite pass. This will be fully automated very shortly and will include full composite and projection images. Satellite scheduled pass information will also be displayed to show when the next image is likely to be displayed. High resolution prints are available of the images for a small charge .
